9U Rules Update

Primary changes for the 9U division, include the following:
  • Clarification that the dropped 3rd strike rule is in play;
  • Pitch count limits: 40+ in a game requires 48 hrs rest, total 48 hour pitch limit is 60 pitches;
  • Tight bases (until pitch crosses plate)
  • Starting week 7 (previously week 6, moved back 1 week due to schedules), Modified Player Pitch rules are dropped, and full Player Pitch rules are in effect.
    • Ordinary baseball pitch counts
    • Hitters will take first on walks
    • Semi-Loose bases, runners cannot take a lead but they can steal once pitcher begins windup, but beware, pick-offs and step-off rules are also in-effect (i.e. pitcher can use the inside move to second (fake) and catch a runner stealing 3rd by throwing ahead of the runner).
    • 1 base per batter on passed balls also lapses. Runners can run all the way to 3rd so get your catchers up to speed over the next 3 weeks.
    • Still no taking home on anything other than a catcher trying to pick off a runner going back to 3rd base (not an overthrow stealing 3rd).
